Grundy Museum’s Victorian Holiday House 2025

Grundy Museum’s Victorian Holiday House 2025

Our exquisite Victorian Holiday House returns! This year’s event, Toys & Tinsel, features antique Victorian toys! Delight in the Victorian splendor of the Grundy Mansion, decorated for the season with seven Christmas trees, while you marvel at these enchanting toys!

Each tree is adorned by the Museum’s staff, volunteers, and designer Jimmy Bason Gilpatrick, along with his staff from Bird of Paradise Flowers here in Bristol Borough. Victorian Holiday House is a wonderful way to get into the holiday spirit!

In Victorian times, children loved playing with handmade wooden toys, dollhouses, and toys made from fabric. Wealthier families could afford wooden horses, miniature carousels, and tin soldiers to entertain their children.

Imagine a Christmas morning from over a century ago, with rocking horses, dolls, miniature carousels, Steiff Teddy Bears, hand-carved animals and much more under gorgeous, sparkling trees!

These toys are on loan to us from Troy Chinnici-Bianchi, of Philadelphia, who has spent 50 years amassing his collection. His journey began in the 1970s when his great aunt gave him a pair of her beloved childhood toys. This sparked a lifelong love, and he is still on the hunt today for more timeless treasures.

Today, Troy’s collection is a tribute to Victorian Christmas charm. Each toy holds a story, a memory, a little bit of holiday magic. Every December, he brings some of them out to showcase those under his Christmas tree. He has many rare Victorian and German toys. And the Grundy Museum is incredibly honored to present some of his toys for the first time at our annual Victorian Holiday House this year!

Opening Night also presents holiday music performed by violinist Claudia Pellegrini. Light refreshments will be served in the garden on the Museum’s South Lawn.
