According to Margaret Grundy’s genealogical research, she and Joseph Grundy traced their lineage through their maternal line to one of Pennsylvania’s original settlers, an English baron who was one of the Sureties of the Magna Charta [1215 A.D.], and the Anglo-Saxon King, Alfred the Great, who ruled from 871 to 899 A.D. The Grundy family, of which Margaret and Joseph were the last two direct descendants, sprang from Edmund Grundy, a native of England who came to this country as a young man.
