Grundy Achieves Arboretum Accreditation

The Grundy Foundation is proud to announce that it has been accredited as a Level I arboretum through the ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program. This prestigious recognition highlights the organization’s commitment to the establishment, development, and conservation of trees and tree-focused gardens, fostering professional engagement, and promoting education for the public. Bristol Borough now has a total of eight professional tree-tenders! Grundy is committed to promoting environmental stewardship and fostering a love for plants and nature within the community. The ArbNet accreditation serves as a testament to this commitment.

In celebration of this achievement and Earth Day, Grundy has planned a series of engaging events for the week of April 20-27, 2024:

  1. Tree Planting Ceremony (April 20, 2024, 11:00 AM): In collaboration with the Philadelphia Horticultural Society, PHS Tree tenders, and the Garden Club of Bristol Borough, seven trees will be planted on the Grundy Campus. Educational materials and refreshments will be provided.
  2. Legacy Gardening Presentation (April 24, 2024): Horticulturist Debbie Mahon will give a presentation titled “Legacy Gardening: Past, Present, and Future Plant Sharing.” This event requires registration, which will be available here on March 27.
  3. Second Annual Plant Swap (April 27, 2024, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM): Hosted by the Grundy Library and Museum, this event encourages participants to bring potted garden seedlings, houseplants, and outdoor plants to share. Plant donations are accepted from April 25-27. Additionally, Garden Club of Bristol Borough members as well as representatives from the Bucks County chapter of the Penn State Master Gardeners will be on-site to answer your plant questions. The event is rain-or-shine and requires no registration. Donating plants is encouraged but not required in order to participate in the swap. You may want to bring a box for your plants on the day of the Saturday event. Leave a plant, take a plant!

Donations for these presentations and others like them are generously accepted. Click here to donate or contact Bobbie Foster, Development and Marketing Coordinator at 215-788-7891 ext. 25 or email fosterb@grundyfoundation.com.
